FAQ's
Where are you located?
My office is located in Lakewood, Colorado, about 7 miles southwest of downtown Denver. The nearest major intersection is CO-121 S/Wadsworth Blvd and US Hwy 285/W Hampden Ave. The full address is 3333 S Wadsworth Blvd., Suite D-201, Denver, CO 80227.
Do I really need therapy right now?
It all depends on how your struggles are currently impacting your life right now. Often it helps to be as proactive as possible in addressing your needs, as it can be difficult to do so when the issues are active or overwhelming. Oftentimes, people want to work on an issue for a short period, then take a break, apply what they have learned, and then resume therapy in the future to work on a different issue or to readdress the previous issue due to its reemergence. Sometimes our quest for understanding or our hopes to shift longstanding patterns or beliefs is enough to get us in to speak with someone. I have been witness to great change within people or others in their lives from those who were convinced that change was truly impossible.
How much will it cost?
This varies greatly depending on whether you are able to utilize your insurance or not. If you are able to use your insurance, then you will only be responsible for covering your deductable and any co-pays that exist on your particular insurance plan. Co-pays usually range anywhere from $5 to $70. If I do not accept your insurance, or you would rather not utilize your insurance then my cost for Individuals, couples and family therapy sessions is $140 per hour.
Do you accept my insurance?
I accept all Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance plans, Cigna, Victims Compensation from all counties, and Medicaid. I also accept Emergency Assistance Programs (EAP) from these insurance companies, and Child Health Plan (CHP+). Some insurance companies allow for “out-of-network” providers to provide services to their customers, but these will often require a preauthorization and valid justification for its necessity. Most insurance companies will reimburse you for some portion of the cost of our sessions if you submit to them an invoice for already provided services (which I can provide upon request). This will require you to cover the cost of these sessions initially, to be reimbursed by the insurance company upon submission of my invoice at a future date.
Do I need prior authorization from my insurance company to begin therapy?
The insurance plans that I accept do not require preauthorization unless you are trying to utilize your EAP, or requesting out-of-network services.
Will I have to pay anything directly to the therapist if you do accept my insurance?
If you are able to use your insurance, then you will only be responsible for covering your deductable and any co-pays that exist on your particular insurance plan. Co-pays usually range anywhere from $5 to $70. If I do not accept your insurance, or you would rather not utilize your insurance then my cost for Individuals, couples and family therapy sessions is $140 per hour.
Will going to therapy affect my insurance premiums?
Not likely. Insurance companies require providers to assign a diagnosis code to all clients that we see. Whenever possible, I provide them with codes that do not warrant their increasing client’s premiums or affecting their willingness to provide coverage to their clients.
How long will therapy last?
That is entirely up to you. You are able to terminate therapy at any time.
Do I need to do a lot of paperwork before I get seen by the therapist?
There is a briefInitial Intake Form that you can fill out and bring to your first session, or send it securely to Paul's office.
How long does it take to get to be seen by a therapist?
This depends on your availability and that of the therapist. The hope is that people can be seen within two weeks of their initial contact, though there is no guarantee that this can be accomplished.
How can I pay for my session or co-pay?
I accept cash, checks, money orders, and all major credit cards.
